A young fisherman from the west coast of Brittany and his daughter are carrying nets and fresh fish home from the beach in this Porquier-Beau wall pocket. The little girl wearing a close-fitting cap and her father with his wind-blown hair and tassled breeches make an attractive pair.

The "cornet" is 12" long. It dates from c.1875-1898 and  is signed PB with the town name "Douarnenez." There are four tiny bits of wear at the top and an invisible professional restoration on the inside and rim of the front fold. A jardinière with a difference! Four charmingly painted dolphin heads raise this decorative piece 1" above the table. The sides
flare out from the dolphins and lead into a dramatic and unusual five-pointed top. This early Henriot Quimper piece from the 1920s-30s  is a reinterpretation of a 19th century Porquier-Beau fan-shaped jardinière.

The interior is divided into three sections to hold flowers more easily. In true Quimper style the Breton couple and floral motif  have plenty of eye appeal even if the interior is not filled with flowers or greens.

The jardinière, which is signed HenRiot Quimper on the base, is 10¾" wide. Measured from its peak, the central section is 5" deep and 3½" from front to back. Condition is excellent.                                          SOLD
